October Club Meeting: Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk on "Woman of Influence: Championing Women's Health and Empowerment"

We are pleased to announce that our speaker for the UPWC opening meeting on October 2 will be Joseline Peña-Melnyk.  Maryland Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk will speak to us on the topic "Woman of Influence: Championing Women's Health and Empowerment."  Delegate Peña-Melnyk is a dedicated and passionate public servant who works endlessly on behalf of her constituents.  You are in for a real treat.  

Speaker Biography: Equal rights and health equity are at the core of Delegate Peña-Melnyk's character. With a rich background in being a voice for the voiceless, she worked as a public defender and guardian for vulnerable children. She began her political career when she was elected to the College Park City Council In 2003, and then to the Maryland General Assembly in 2007. As a state delegate, she represents portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties. The Delegate currently serves as the Chair of the Health and Government Operations Committee as the highest-ranking Latina in the history of the Maryland General Assembly. She has been a major player on health care policy issues and has shown a commitment to making Maryland stronger, fairer, and more inclusive.

Members, please remember to bring your dues ($35), if you have not already paid, and any magazines (no older than 3 months) that you wish to recycle/redistribute.  Collections for the Penny Project welcomed.
