About the event
What if you had to learn English as an adult?
Please join the University Park Woman’s Club as we welcome our guest speaker, Jennifer Kubit, Director of the Adult Education ESL program at Prince George’s County Community College. Adult Education ESL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes are for adults from other countries who want to learn to speak, understand, read, and write English. The ESL program offers a variety of courses that includes Adult Education ESL, Transition ESL, and Academic ESL classes, as well as Career Pathways ESL Certificate Programs.
Jennifer was a teacher in New Mexico before moving to Maryland, where she taught at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Prince George’s County until 2007. She has worked with the ESL program at Prince George’s Community College for 16 years conducting intake and assessment for incoming students, as well as teaching a high school preparation program for adult ESL learners. In 2022 she became the ESL Director for the Adult Education Program.
Come ready for an informative discussion on learning English as an adult. The program will be in-person at the University Christian Church at the corner of Adelphi and Belcrest Roads in Hyattsville. Sign-in begins at 11:30 a.m. You may bring your lunch. Light snacks and water will be provided.
Members and all those interested in learning more about the University Park Woman's Club are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP via email, and we will be happy to welcome you to our next event. There is no cost to attend. Should you wish to join or support the club, annual dues are $35. Donations for The Penny Project fundraiser will be collected. We hope to see you on the first Monday each month!
