About the event
Please join the University Park Woman’s Club on Monday, October 4, at 11:30 a.m. at University Christian Church at the corner of Adelphi and Belcrest Roads for the first in-person meeting for the club in more than a year. UPWC will commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by hosting author and University Park resident J. Samuel Walker for a presentation on his recently published book, "The Day That Shook America: A Concise History of 9/11."
A tribute to the Falkenberg family who lived on Tennyson Street in University Park and died in the plane that crashed into the Pentagon will be included. Mr. Walker researched 9/11 records and will share his analysis of the approaches taken by the Clinton and Bush administrations on terrorism and terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda. The book also includes new details on the four hijackings and the collapse of the Twin Towers. Both the human drama and the public policy dimensions of this important event in U.S. history are presented in this book which is both comprehensive and concise. Mr. Walker’s book is available from Amazon on August 30, 2021.
A business meeting will follow the presentation. Due to continued precautions related to Covid-19 and the Delta variant, lunch will not be served. UPWC will provide store wrapped snacks and desserts, bottled water and plenty of hand sanitizer! Bring a mask. Please do not RSVP via this web event; instead RSVP to Pat Myers or call (301) 439-6813 to reserve a seat.
