About the event
Award-winning author Ann McCallum Staats shares the stories of 14 incredible female army heroes. Though early laws prohibited women from becoming soldiers, many women still found ways to serve, even disguising themselves as men to participate in active battle. Women Heroes of the US Army chronicles the critical role women have played in strengthening the US Army from the birth of the nation to today. These smart, brave, and determined women led the way for future generations to enter, grow and prosper in the forces defending the United States. Through the profiles highlighting the achievements of these trailblazers throughout history, young women today can envision an equitable future.
February is our sharing month, and we ask clubwomen attending to bring one sandwich (PB&J, cheese, tuna, etc.) cut into fourths and one piece of cut-up fruit. The sandwiches will be shared and the fruit mixed into a huge fruit salad for all.
Donation Drives:
- Prince George's Plaza Day Center is asking for new and gently used thermal underwear in men's sizes L, XL, XXL, and sleeping bags.
- The Family Crisis Center of PG Co. is asking for portioned snacks, new twin sheet sets, blankets
- Sole4Souls is asking for new and gently used footwear of all kinds.
