About the event
Canceled until further notice due to Covid-19 precautions.
Liz Marshall, Natural Resource Specialist with the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service, will be the guest speaker of the University Park Woman’s Club. Dr. Marshall will present information on the decline in native bee and butterfly populations. She will also present ways we can protect and support these pollinators. Many of the foods we eat depend on pollinators in order to grow. In the insect world, bees are the most efficient pollinators. Their decline threatens our food supply. Monarch butterflies are also pollinators and their numbers have also greatly declined in recent years.
Come and join us as we learn about this crisis and how we can become pollinator protectors. UPWC meets at University Christian Church at the corner of Belcrest and Adelphi Roads in Hyattsville. Sign-in begins at 11:30 followed by lunch at noon, a brief business meeting, and Dr. Marshall’s presentation at 12:35. RSVP by March 24.
