Author Susan Santangelo and the Baby Boomer Mystery Series

On Monday, May 3, University Park Woman’s Club will host guest speaker Susan Santangelo for a Zoom meeting beginning at 11:45. Author Susan Santangelo will share anecdotes from her life as a writer and vignettes from her Baby Boomer Mystery Series. The series follows the adventures of Carol and Jim Andrews as they navigate their way along life's highway toward their twilight years while solving challenging murder mysteries.

Susan Santangelo has been a feature writer, drama critic and editor for daily and weekly newspapers and magazines in the NY metro area. She’s a member of Sisters in Crime, InternationalThriller Writers, and the Cape Cod Writers Center.

Some of the published titles in the Baby Boomer Mystery Series are: "Retirement Can Be Murder," 2009 (Carol worries about life at home when her husband retires); "Moving Can Be Murder," 2011 (Carol and husband plan a move to a retirement community);"Marriage Can Be Murder," 2012 (Carol’s daughter is gettingmarried on Cape Cod); and "Class Reunions Can Be Murder," 2013 (Carol and her high school classmates plan a 40th reunion).

With approximately one book per year published, she celebrated the 10th anniversary of the series with a boxed set of "Retirement Can Be Murder” and “Moving Can Be Murder." In her Amazon author’s page, she writes about this boxed set: “Twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the murders! Check it out!” She advises her readers to study the cover of each book carefully to try to identify the murder weapon.

Though the books are truly murder mysteries, they are full of laughs and each chapter begins with a short humorous quote such as “Q: How many retirees does it take to change a lightbulb? A: Only one, but it might take all day.” Or “Q: What’s the downside of doing nothing? A: You don’t know when you’re done.” Susan Santangelo lives in Clearwater, Florida.  With the help of Zoom, she’s able to join usto share insights on writing mysteries and her unique sense of humor.
